You Raise Me Up

You Raise Me Up

Sunday greetings my friends, I pray for you many blessings on this first day of the week. Several days ago I shared one of the songs I like to begin my day with, after listening to one of my favorite passages. Today, I want to share with you another scripture and another song that jumpstart my day.

Psalm 46:1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.”

Josh Groban sings the following lyrics better than anyone I know of. I’m sure the song was written and sung with earthly relationships in mind. The power of love between a husband and wife lifting each other up is awe inspiring. I’ve chosen to adapt this message to a higher love. My gratefulness to God for being my refuge and help in times of trouble absolutely jump out at me as I listen to this beautiful song.

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;

When troubles come and my heart burdened be;

Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,

Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;

You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;

I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;

You raise me up… To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;

You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;

I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;

You raise me up… To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;

You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;

I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;

You raise me up… To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;

You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;

I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;

You raise me up… To more than I can be.

You raise me up… To more than I can be.

Moving back to Psalm 46 and the two closing verses let me know how I must handle adversity. “Be still, and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. (Psalm 46:10-11, ESV).

In order for God to raise me up, I must submit and not resist His willingness to be there for me in times of trouble. Once lifted, He expects us to raise others up along life’s roads.

Wow, what a world this would be if we did more raising than razing! Be inspired today
