How is Jesus Related to His Church?

1. HE IS THE BUILDER OF IT. (Matthew 16:18) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

2. HE IS THE FOUNDATION OF IT. (1 Cor. 3:11) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

3. HE IS THE HEAD OF IT. (Eph. 5:23) For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

4. HE IS THE OWNER OF IT. (Acts 20:28) Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

5. HE IS MARRIED TO IT. (Eph. 5:23) For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church:

6. HE IS THE SAVIOR OF IT. (Eph. 5:23) For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

7. HE ADDS THE SAVED TO IT. (Acts 2:47) Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

8. HE IS HIGH PRIEST OVER IT. (Heb. 10:19-22) Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

9. HE HAS ALL AUTHORITY OVER IT. (Matt. 28:18) And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

10. HE IS COMING BACK FOR IT. (Eph. 5:25-27) Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
