There are those who would array science against the Bible in advocating the theories of evolution, but a correct statement of the issue would be: The Bible and science versus the theories of evolution.
The theories of evolution are not science. A definition of science has been stated in these words: “A correlated body of absolute knowledge.” This knowledge is gained by observation, proved by demonstration, refined by experience in dealing with such facts; and is then specialized under a certain title in the field of research.
The question of the origin of things, which we are dealing with in this article, is not scientific; it is a philosophical question. In other words, with regard to the origin of things, one must decide whether to believe the hypotheses and theories of pseudo-scientists, or what the Bible teaches on the subject. The Bible account of creation is recorded in Genesis 1. In directly contradicting God’s Word certain ones have stated various things with regard to the origin of things.

One of the most popular theories as to the origin of the earth is called the tidal theory. This theory avers that a commotion was caused on the sun by a star which resulted in the throwing off of the planets from the sun, but no explanation is ever offered, in connection with this theory, for the sun or the star that presumably caused the reaction on the sun. This assumption starts with something already in existence. I should explain where the sun came from before using it to prove the origin of the earth. With regard to the possibility of the universe creation itself, as some have stated, note these words of George Davis, a physicist: “If a universe could create itself, it would embody the powers of a creator, and we should be forced to conclude that the universe itself is a God.”
THE ORIGIN OF LIFE
Evolutionists claim that life came from dead matter when acted upon by the blind forces of nature. This explanation is best by grave difficulties, the greatest, perhaps, being, if life came from dead matter, where did the dead matter come from and why will life not come from dead matter today? It is admitted that such is now impossible; if it is impossible now, how do we know that it was ever possible?
As Edwin Conklin, a biologist, stated: “The probability of life originating from accident is comparable to the probability of the unabridged dictionary resulting from an explosion in a printing shop.” If scientists are ever able to create life in a test tube it will simply mean that man has learned another of God’s truths.
THE ORIGIN OF MAN
The evolution theory conjectures that man is a development from a tiny cell through a number of stages: fish, amphibian, reptile, bird and mammal. But where did the tiny cell come from? Do similar cells exist today? If so, why are not higher forms of life now being developed therefrom? If not, what circumstances suddenly caused their extinction?
If the theory of evolution is true, is every fish, bird, animal, etc., a potential man?
CONCLUSION
Now which will you believe about the origin of things—the theories of the evolutionists, or what the Bible teaches?
